my tattoo is explained. also northern ireland is part of the UK and has the Union Jack as a flag. i know that there are problems with which flag is flown but northern ireland and eire are attached and currently have 2 flags, why not have both flags on my arm if they can have 2 on an island. |

Your tattoo much like what Phil said (good on you) is a shame learn history wether your IRISH or british understand that these flags should not be flown together there are still problem and they have not yet been resolved and britan was just that Ireland and i quote Phil again and strongly stand by this butchers and nothing to be proud of if u british and got british flag fine or IRISH and got an IRISH flag but to put them together even if ment it to be positive as hope for the future is just ignorant again learn your history.
Ps. take the fucking discrase of your with a belt sander and shoot the so called artist who gave to you you fucking idiot |

Just saw the notice for the abusive comments I apologies as I have discredited my argument with my final comments of anger. Being some one with roots to the situation however I was shamed to see this tattoo at first however i suppose its just a tattoo not reflection on the situation nor the past and may well have been ment in a positave light. However kid i stand by my comment that you should learn your history and the injustice that Ireland has endured due to britan and the very large statement you are making with that tattoo |

The whole point of a tattoo is getting something engraved on you that has a deep, important meaning to you. It's one of the most personal things anyone can do to their body, when you get something like that done you have to expect the abuse that will come with it, there's alot of bad history there and the way the Irish were treated by the Brits will never be forgotten. We Irish are extremely proud of our country...but again you are of decent not full blood, no disrespect, just be open to the hassle your going to get. Me, personal, I am Irish, full blood, born and raised, I respect the reason you got it done but you are going to be met with a lot of hostility....word of advice don't ever show that off in Ireland if you go to visit or England......there you will have a problem.
But all in all be proud of who you are....good to see the Irish Pride...good luck to you. |

And boys think that girls are catty? Carefull lads you are showing your fangs as well as your age. Most of what was posted here was sheer rubbish, from people claiming to be of some level of intelligence. Ignore most of them and recognize them for the whiny close-minded people they are. It's your body, be proud of who you are and where you came from, it is so important to know and love yourself. Granted it is not something one would see everyday, but isn't that half the point of self expression? I applaud your individuality, and ability to stand your ground without resorting to petty childish antics. |

i am sorry i dont like it!! i am a very proud irish woman with lots of english friends but there is still something deep inside me that makes me want to turn away from this tattoo. i find it very uncomortable to look at. as for GB comment on the 8th of march if you want to talk about paramilitary organizations lets talk about the UDA and the UVF the loyalist that still causing so many problems up the north still. and i find it very funny that everyone is giving out about the Provisional IRA when they dont even exsist anymore but nothing is said about the loyalist paramilitary's that are still up and running. and before anyone says it i know that some people believe that the IRA havent disbanded but as far as i am concerned if you class yourself as still being a member of the Real IRA or the Continuity IRA your just a scum bag drug dealer. and i have the guts to post under my user name unlike a lot of people here.
but like i said i am a proud irish girl and i would have no problem dying for my country. |

Mate im Irish, I live in N.ireland i see both sides....British flags n irish flags, and for the niave Great Britian people like yourself, please open your eyes the sectarism and rasim is rampant even within the wider scale not just on the streets its in our goverments and police........They dont want use to fly the Ireland flag in N.ireland (The north of Ireland)! so for the people saying leave it in the past, its not in the past, i know a young catholic who was killed this week for wearing a celtic jersey.....being catholic, flying the Irish flag etc! So GB shut up, yes im part of your UK reluctantly, but My country is called Ireland, wether its north or south its Ireland and the english invaded ireland and occupy 12 of its 32 counties! Fairplay to the guy who got this tattoo he likes it and hes American but its realy like Flying the USA flag with Afgahnistan! Its just gonna affend people! |

Oh yes, and despite popular belief (or is that ignorance?), there is as much blood dripping from the tricolour as there is from the Union flag.

An a Rep of Ireland-living Irish person I can tell you i have no problem with this tatoo and think it'd be nice to have them flying together on a political basis. No semi-intelligent mature irish individual has any problem with british people, not today. However, as this is a personal tattoo reflecting one's heritage, all i can say is butt out to the abusive ranters who are desperately trying to stir shit that has been settling for two decades on an island 3000 miles away, from the safety of there bland small town american existances. Small town america can be interesting lads. You live there, go find out and leave the important issues to the people it affects. |

That tat is a disgrace, it goes againest everything Irish jus think what ur Irish ancestors would of said, after they had in many cases gave their lives to defend the Irish mainland from British occupation, so the irish people can live in freedom away from British rule. So these flags should not be put together! Pick 1 nationality and stick 2 it! |

I am appalled at the abusive comments i have read on this page. As an Irishman who lost family in the troubles....i can say that i do not mind this tattoo. I am fully aware of the atrocities the British committed against the Irish. However being English and Irish is part of Cam's HERITAGE We are all very proud of our HERITAGE. If Cam choses to get himself inked as a Celebration of his HERITAGE that is his decision. I think that all of the abusers are missing the point here. Cam has every right to have pride in who he is, and no one here has the right to tell him other wise. Although i personally would never get a tattoo with a Union flag involved, i can say i respect Cam for having a tremendous amount of Pride in who he is. |

i understand what you are trying to represent, but im a lil bias because my dad is from northern ireland was could never fly and irish flag in fear of what british police and/or prostants would do. after what all Ireland has been through they have the right to have their flag flying high center stage with out the union jack. but its ur family and ur tattoo. |

Okay, the past is the past, the present is the present, and the future is yet to come. Germany tried to take over the world, but they're a different nation now. The UK has come a long way. And I'm sure we can forgive past mistakes. That being said, I, as well, am Irish. And I would never put any English sybol on my body, but partly cause I'm not English. However, I applaud you in your effort to show your heritage. I plan on designing something that represents German, Irish, Scottish, and Alaskan heritages, so keep your ground.
P.S. Gerry McGuiness is a blind idiot. The flags are the same size! If anyone's getting short changed it's the French (which is okay cause they pretty much suck). But good for you getting something that means something to YOU, not anyone else. |

Alright so I had to skip a LOT of comments based on people's political views and anger and so forth but as far as the TATTOO (for those who forgot that that is the point of this)..... I don't personally like it because it doesn't look particularly well done and I don't like the coloring or lettering. I also don't have anything emotionally or intellectually invested in what's represented. But YOU do and I like tattoos that mean something to the owner. It's a part of YOUR body and a part of YOUR story so it is a statement from you and I was interested to hear the meaning and see it. Thank you for sharing it. The rest of you can continue on about hatred and history and blah blah blah.... Have a good day. |
