Comment: Ryan is right, the industry is not for people who don't have any artistic skill to begin with. Tracing pictures is not going to "make" you an artist. That just makes you a tattooist, not a tattoo artist. Flash sucks, anyone with enough time and patients can copy someone elses art. But that is just it, it is some one else's art. This work above will definatly give you a bad rep.

Comment: your welcome, i forgot to mention one other point that solo made that is a very good and strong one- this is a reputation based industry, don't do anything more to soil it before you ever really get started or you will have a major headache down the road- best of luck to you and enjoy your divorce, it will be a nice chance for you to start over and make changes.

Comment: Wow, thank you. yes, I can accept criticism. My equipment that I have is not the best. I have been practicing drawing, and am getting a little better. I used to draw all the time, so I know it is in me. I haven't given up, and I'm not going to. I am willing to relocate. I live in a small a*s po-dunk town that has nothing. I'm in the middle of a divorce, so relocating would do me some good anyway. Thanks for your post!!! I appreciate comments like yours. :)

Comment: wow, your the only one on here willing to take and accept any critism and is actually looking to better yourself. but after a comment from some one who obviously wants to charge people "apprenticeship fees" so he can "educate" them in how to trace things as he stated above, you decide to give up. i don't know if its your lack of patience in learning or your hasty decision to give up that disappoints me more. . . i do agree with solo on one thing and that is definetly sell your stuff or destroy it so we dont end up with another scratcher- its probly garbage anyway, but dont give up if you really want it and feel you can do it - keep school as a back up plan but draw in the meantime. and f**k drawing flash, draw anything you want- what this industry needs is artists, not photocopiers. get a portfolio together and make contacts, but keep in mind that there may not be an opening in town for you and that to find any career may mean relocation.

Comment: Hello Kelly.....No offence, but you need to stop Tattooing , and practice on drawing until you are better in the art aspect of tattooing.
You cannot just start tattooing without being better in art.
I know you cannot afford college classes, so The best thing to do is get a tracing pad and an art pad, trace any and all tattoo designs you can. Draw and Trace everyday. you will get better and better, but you must take the time to do it. If you was an apprentice right now, you would not tattoo skin, until you were ready.
Probably a year or more.
Learning will make you better...... there is no way to quickly become a good tattoo artist.......you will just make a reputation of being a scratcher.
Be patient and practice on paper. Everyone wants to be a good tattoo artist overnight, and that does not happen. you must learn and be the best you can be, or you will fall into the ranks of the less talented tattooers, and never have a good reputation.
So draw, trace, sketch, over and over . Until you are sick of drawing....and then do it some more.
You must be an artist, before you can be a Tattoo Artist.
When I do have a new apprentice, they trace almost all of the tattoo designs in my shop in the first couple months. and they must continually practice drawing.
If I had an opening for an apprentice, I would NOT take you on, until you were more accomplished in art. again "No Offence".
I just want to be honest. This is not a business you just fall into, It is a business that you have to pay your dues, I have apprentices now that have been apprenticing for over a year. and they are patient and learn everyday. They are paying their dues.(I don't mean money, I mean time and hard work) and doing very good.
When you are Bored.......Draw , don't keep trying to tattoo, you are not ready for skin. Be Patient, it is the most permanent Art form that there is. don't cut yourself short or any of your customers short, by trying to be an instant tattooer.....WORK FOR IT. LEARN TO DRAW, some shops take on new apprentices with low artist abilities,just for the apprentice fees, but it would be to your best benefit to take some college courses if you could afford it. Please don't take this business lightly, it takes a serious attitude to be good. I wish you the best. Solo

Comment: Keep workin on your skills as an artist. To be brought into a studio worth learning from is hard to do and the studios don't just hand out apprenticeships to anyone. The better your skills as an artist the higher the chance on gettin into a reputable studio. College is a good start. Art classes and some medical training would be a serious start. Even the best artist get training from others its the best way to grow as a artist.

Comment: Ok Kelly check it out. People go through appreticeships so they don't hack people up. Just like you get an education before attempting to be a doctor, nurse, so on so forth. It is against the law for you to tattoo in springifeld unless you are licenced by the health department. Tattooists get pissed when people like you are so eager to tattoo that you don't take the steps to get educated you just start making messes for us to clean up. Do yourself a favor before you creat a bad name for yourself. If you are serious find an apprenticeship and dreamtime would be your worst choice. Don't be missled by people being your friends to make money off of you, this is a bussiness its all about the $ and you like everyone else are disposable and replaceable. Just step away from the machine don't be to eager to drop ink in people it is forever.
