I really really like this tattoo. I'm hoping to have an oak leaf done next year, as I'm getting married and changing my surname. My current surname means oak leaf, so it'd be nice to have a symbol for it. Since I read that leaf tattoo's mean "joy" and "rebirth" it seems even more appropriate!

Thanks for your comments, the foot tattoo smarted, but only at the time, it was fine afterwards. Definately go for it, foot tattoos look much better on ladylike feet than a hairy guys foot!

The artwork it's self is a 9 i think, but the story behind it makes it a 10. Where did you get it? I didn't see in comments above. I also got a tattoo (my 2nd) for my son, his initials placed togehter, looks like a chinese symble kinda.

For a first tattoo I thinks it's perfect! And I love the reason why you had it done. I can't have children so I adore my springer spaniel Henry, when he was 10yrs old I had a braclet tattoo on my left wrist, its green vine leaves with five small red roses going around, when I turn my wrist over it has his name linking the back of the tattoo. It's delicate and I love it because no matter where I am he's right there with me everytime I look at it. Your oakleaf is very special and unique to you, just like your son. I give it a 9.

Thank you for your comment, I just love it. The bottom of the tat is about an inch above my ankle bone on my right leg. Since it was my first, I wanted to stay away from tattooing right on the bone. Your tats are all very cool, but I'm partial to the faerie! ;)
