I had each side of my collar bone surface pierced about 4 days ago. I luckily got them done with surface bars. I'm hoping they end up lasting a long time, but I know the rejection rate is high.

If done properly, surface piercings can last quite a while. In your case it was a matter of improper jewelry. Find a good piercer that uses surface bars. In the past I used curved barbells and PTFE with no problems as you can see on my profile but a surface bar is the way to go.

I got the same thing on both arms in just about the same spot just i think mine are a little longer, bout an inch and a half. My piercer used PTFE instead of a surface staple bar or a straight steel bar. Its been about 3 weeks now and so far so good.
