I dunno. At this stage it's kind of a hodge-podge. The pagoda/castle thing is ok, if a litttle uneven. The Chinese guy on the left is kind of odd, and why does he have chopsticks in his hair? And ditto on above: what are the black squiggly lines? |

Wanna-Be!!! Looking at your work brings to mind that maybe you have not been tattooing long enough to tackle a project of this size and detail, just yet!! The rocks really look like sh!t, also. |

First of all thank you for all of your comments. It is nice to see my work draw some discussion. But let me expain a few things. First of all the tattoo is incomplete. It may be 25% done right now. When I designed this tattoo it was in early 04. It is inspired by all forms of the forms of oriental tattooing that I have studied with my interpreation. The brush work lines inbetween the man and the pagoda are the beginning of my take on traditional rocks that you see in oriental work. I still have to do the shade work in all of them with some nice light grey wash and midtones. Then where the orange mark is will be the region where I draw in the waves and maybe whirlpool in the same style. Going up the right side was originally a cherry blossom tree. that will be done in nice dark and midtones. But it is not drawn on in the photo. Much work still exists. I have worked dilligently in my carrer especially in the last two years. I have also been fortunate enough to have worked with some wonderful artist since then. By the time this piece is finished, the rocks and water and I may use some nice flowing bamboo instead of the cherry blossom tree, and concentrate on the pagoda. It will be a beatiful piece. I may even incorporate some color in certain areas. But thanks for the comments and keep em coming. And I would love to look at any portfolios, maybe learn a new thing or too. |

Talk is one thing. The walk is another. Regaurdless of what you may have planned in your head, your lack of expierance shines thru your work. Stick to the small stuff until you get the hang of tattooing. Do you even work in a shop, or are a home school artist like the rest of the artist in Oklahoma? |

The artist might not be finished yet, but at least he's bothering to use English the way it was made eh? 'Thru' is not something I'd respect when read. Overall I like the design, and I'd like to see the piece finished. The detailing so far is rather impressive, and I reserve judgment until the work is done. It's like commenting on a painting before the final highlights, and lowlights have been added, pointless, and honestly rather rude to the concept! |
