as phantum says the lip doesnt hurt at all but only certain people can get it done in the middle. some people have a vein that runs near the middle so if you have that you cant get it pierced in the middle. just becarefull eating while the stud is in ( insist on a stud not a ring) cause the bar can get caught in between your front teeth which can hurt a lot !!!

surface piercings are done pretty much the same way as anyother but they have to put and extention on the end of the needle and then hook the jewelry to that and then just pull it through. its pretty cool. the barbell is shaped a little differently too...with 90 degree angles at the ends...kinda like a staple..yeah it was interesting experience definately
