Nice tattoo. I was gonna ask why travel that far when there are a couple really great portrait artists working in San Antonio until I read that the artist had already done some work for you. Loyalty to a good artist is completely understandable.

To the re**rd a couple posts up: The bible basically says not to desecrate your body. There is nothing wrong with decorationg it. The passages that pertain to this are basically referring to the pagan icons that some people would tattoo on themselves or carve into the flesh during the times the bible was being written and compiled.

Also forgiveness and acceptance are some of the primary teachings of Christianity so I find it hard to beleive that a caring god would let something like a tattoo showing this persons love for Jesus would keep him out of Heaven. By the way, it shouldn't really matter that jesus was not white if visualizing him as so helps a person make a better conection with their religion.

Ok getting of the soapbox now and before you go there, I am not a church going Christian; But I am not an ignorant a*s like the poster above either just for the record.

Great work, but "worth it?" That's a judgment call about content and meaning. I hope you feel it was worth it, regardless of any feedback here. I wouldn't tattoo Jesus on myself any more than I'd tattoo Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, or any other mythical godhead on my body. But that's me. :-)

Fantastic lines, smooth shading, etherial appearance without being overly religious. Your artist did a wonderful job on the piece.
