Displaying Body Jewelry

Body jewelry can be difficult to display.  There are many different things to keep in mind when working on a body jewelry display, including the type of clientele, the size of the jewelry, the volume of jewelry you are trying to sell, and the visibility needed.

The first thing you need to think about when displaying body jewelry is the style of your clientele.  Most people who are in search of body jewelry may not be engaged by traditional ways of displaying jewelry.  This means you must get creative.  You may want to explore body jewelry boutiques, shops, magazines, and the Internet to see how other people are presenting their body jewelry displays.  Bright colors and unique displays may be necessary to grab the attention you are looking for.

If you are trying to sell your body jewelry at outdoor shows, festivals, and concerts, you will need a body jewelry display that is portable and easy to put together and take apart.  Plastic jars, typically used for gems and stones, work really well to display body jewelry, and they are light weight for easy portability.  These plastic jars also work to keep the pieces of jewelry clean, which is an important element of selling pierced body jewelry.

Body jewelry is typically small in size.  This presents two problems.  The first dilemma is poor visibility.  It is important to use body jewelry displays that will make the pieces stand out clearly.  The display itself can be bright colored and attention-grabbing, but make sure it doesn’t take away from the jewelry pieces you are selling.  The second problem with jewelry being so small in size is that it is easy to be shoplifted.  That being said: take proper precautions to avoid theft, such as locking up body jewelry display cases and having enough assistants to help customers and keep an eye on the merchandise.

Other things to keep in mind when putting together your body jewelry display is the amount of table space the display uses and how much jewelry can fit on a display.  The more jewelry that is being displayed (without looking too crowded,) the better chances you have at being successful in jewelry sales.
