Celebrity Piercing

When celebrities start to wear something, eat something, or pierce something, the crowd will follow.  Celebrities are trend setters.  Because their fans love them, they will also love what they do-whether it is starting a diet of only raw food or wearing high heels to an aerobics class-some of their adoring fans are sure to follow their lead. 

The 1980’s was the era when rock stars and those in the music industry really began setting the trend with piercings and tattoos.  The punk lifestyle was plastered all over the media.  Piercings would be worn by celebrities in magazines and music videos.  And as we know, a fan will go to extremes.  So, the trend of piercings began its upward spiral. 

One of the famous trendsetters right now for piercings is Christina Aguilera.  It is no surprise that when Christina Aguilera decided to get her nipple pierced, nipple piercings became a popular trend among young women directly following her move.  There were several celebrity navel piercings that were revealed to the public around the same time.  Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, and Gwen Stefani all have gotten navel piercings, and coincidentally or not, the navel is one of the most pierced parts of the body today.
