The nature of many wolf tattoos is angry or violent, with wolf teeth showing and eyes staring your way. The strange thing about that is wolves are not the angry and violent creatures that they are made out to be. This is a common misconception. Because there are many stories and fairy tales describing wolves as dangerous and deceiving, this is exactly what people are led to believe. Tales of werewolves and famous stories such as “Little Red Riding Hood” pretty much forces us to fear wolves. The truth is that wolves are shy, intelligent, playful, and loving animals. If prompted, they can be violent, but they actually prefer not to associate with humans at all, and they avoid confrontation whenever possible. Wolves travel in packs and are extremely loyal to their families and mates. Their packs are organized, with the alpha male and female leading the others on hunts and other excursions. Amongst each other, they communicate very effectively using body language, howls, and other noises to convey their messages. Often wolf tattoos will illustrate a pack of wolves, which describes their way of life more accurately. Wolf tattoos commonly will have a full moon shown in the background, the moon being a huge part of the wolf’s life. Wolves are most often associated with the dark night, between the many werewolf movies and pictures of them howling at the moon in the night sky. Their association to the night could be partially to blame for the connection wolves have to darkness and evil. |
