Deciding On Tattoo Images

Tattoos | Body Art | Deciding On Tattoo Images

Before you decide on your tattoo images, make certain that a tattoo is something you want for the rest of your life.  It is one of those permanent body alterations that cannot be reversed.  This being said, it may be wise to first decide what part of your body you want to get your tattoo because some places are less conspicuous than others, and eventually, you may not want everyone to see it.

There are two major things to consider when you are thinking about the placement of your tattoo.  The first is how painful getting the tattoo image is going to be.  If you are worried about the pain factor, do your research and choose a location that may be less painful than others.

Another major factor to consider is whether or not it will affect your life.  Will an apparent tattoo affect your career?  Will some people look at you differently if they know you have a tattoo?  It is unfortunately true that some (usually conservative) people cannot see past a tattoo.  While this may be a close-minded attitude, you may have to deal with these types of people in life or business at some time or another.  If this reality bothers you in the least, you may want to consider getting the tattoo in a location where it can be hidden, if necessary.  Getting an arm, neck, or ankle tattoo will mean that at some point, co-workers, grandparents, and children will see them, whether you like it or not.  If you were to get a tattoo on your back or another place that is typically concealed, it may be more comfortable for you to know that it can be easily covered.

Once the location is decided, then it’s time to figure out what kind of design you want.  What will look good on your location of choice?  Many people looking for tattoo images ask for something “different” or “unique.”  Unfortunately, if you find something on the Internet or in a tattoo shop, chances are that there will be other people around with the same or similar tattoo image as you.  Your best bet is to hire an artist to draw something original and personal to you.  The bit of extra money this may cost you will be worth it.  After all, your tattoos will be with you forever, and you don’t ever want to regret the tattoo images you decide on.
