Job-Related Tattoos
There are many professions that shun
tattoos altogether. Some establishments do not hire individuals with visible tattoos or will force their employees to cover up their
body art for various job-related reasons. If you work in a field where tattoos are looked down upon, it makes it difficult for you to get one. Careful placement will be extremely necessary. Although it may be inconvenient if your dream is to get a pineapple tattooed on your hand, you may just have to move the placement to somewhere less conspicuous, such as your back.
Other professions welcome tattoos with open arms. Firefighters commonly have job-related tattoos to illustrate their pride in their profession. Tattoos are also popular amongst bartenders in visible locations. Although these are typically not job-related, for women, they are usually sexy tattoos on their lower back or exposed stomach, and male bartenders usually get macho-looking tattoos on their arms. Maybe tattoos earn them bigger tips?
The entertainment industry includes many professions that accept tattoos on any part of the body. Musicians and actors are some who have the flexibility of getting tattoos and piercings wherever they want. It is almost a job-related requirement for rock stars to have some visible tattoos. It certainly adds to the glamour of their lifestyle.
And of course, there are always those closet-tattoo enthusiasts, usually those that you least expect to have a tattoo. There have been a few documented instances where CEOs and serious businessmen have gotten job-related tattoos of their company’s logo, most of the time in a place that is easily hidden by their suits and ties.
