Music Tattoos

Our culture today is highly focused on music.  Musicians are adored and looked up to more than anyone else.  People pay more money to see live music than they do for most things.  And generally speaking, one of the first things to be brought up in a conversation amongst strangers is “What type of music do you listen to?” 

Because music, whatever the type is, has become such a huge part of our lives, they are becoming a huge part of the tattoo industry as well.  From teenagers craving Brittany Spears and Christina Aguilera tattoos, to heavy metal listeners wanting the new Metallica album inked onto their arms, music tattoos are blowing up. 

Some popular music tattoos include specific music group logos, band names, album covers, the word “music,” the word “music” in other languages, characters, or symbols, and musical notes.  Musical note tattoos have been popular for a longer period of time, although not as long as the actual music note was created in C.E. 1025.  The notes are often found in groups, to create a melody or arrangement.  Other times the note or clef sign will be found by itself, often a note with the stem pointing downward, to simply symbolize the musical culture as a whole.   Aside from getting a tattoo of a popular band, album, or general theme of music, you can also personalize music tattoos to tailor them to your needs and interests.  For example, some people create music notes and add fruits, vegetables, baseballs, or balloons to replace the head of the note.  This allows you to add in another interest of yours to join the music tattoo.
