Unicorn Tattoos

Unicorn tattoos are amongst the mythical designs that are perfect for the imaginative person.  The unicorn has been said to have a horse’s body, a stag’s back two legs, a lion’s tail, and one horn coming from its forehead.  Its color is white, representing purity, while the horn represents strength-often pertaining to masculinity.

Unicorns are said to symbolize perfection.  With their innocence, purity, and strength they were able to use their magical powers to heal.  If a river was poisoned, they could purify it with their horn.  They were able to bring peace, courage, and wisdom to any situation.  And wherever unicorns lived, the lands would be beautiful, the weather would be flawless, and the mood would be happy.

For hundreds of years, people have been searching for the horns of unicorns.  Because they are believed to have magical features, everybody wanted one.  And because people would pay any amount of money to own a unicorn horn, they began to appear in civilizations; however the question in mind was, “are they real unicorn horns?”  Substitute horns were bought for obscene amounts of money.  Finally, a test was discovered to find out which horns were real.  The horns would be placed into some kind of box with a few live scorpions.  If the horn was genuine, the scorpions would be dead after a few hours.

In ancient times, there was little question that the unicorn was actually in existence,  However, as time went by, doubt arose as to whether or not it was a real creature.  Some are still convinced that the unicorn is real, or at least existed at some point in time, while others simply enjoy it as a mythical character.  These storybook creatures are now the subject of many tattoos that women get.  As a symbol for purity, hope, love, and strength, unicorn tattoos offer the prospect that these traits and ideas will be transferred to the wearer—making unicorn tattoos attractive to many.
