A wizard presents the image of an old, wise man with a tall, pointy hat, a magic wand, and potions making magic and gazing into the future.  This mythical character is part of the supernatural world and has become a popular subject matter for books, movies, art, and body art in the recent years, which is why wizard tattoos are common today.

The energy of the wizard is not completely positive, nor is it entirely negative.  Rather, it is one of objectivity.  His capabilities of casting spells, making magic, foreseeing the future, and understanding the impossible are sometimes intended to be put to use in a helpful, good-natured way, and other times in a harmful way, depending on the wizard.

Some people forbid the practice of wizardry all together.  In Christianity, wizards, fortune tellers, witches, sorcerers, and just about anything involved with magic, witchcraft, and spells are completely prohibited because it is associated with Satanism and evil spirits.  While in many folklore stories, wizards tend to be kind, wise old men with a warm heart, and are sought out in times of trouble for advice and assistance.

The remainder of individuals, which amount to the majority today, believe wizards to be nothing but folklore, both harmless and entertaining.   Because sorcery, fortune telling, and magic has become a more popular subject of entertainment and conversation in recent years, wizards are also gaining some recognition.  This recognition is what has made wizard tattoos more prevalent today.
